NATALIE DISSEL (BIO)
Natalie Dissel who studied Fine arts in education, was born in the Netherlands. Her design-philosophy ‘Travel, absorb & create’, brings her to all corners of the world. Driven by her passion for nature and culture, she went in 2003 on a long journey in need to ‘feel the world’. While exploring South America, she started collecting gemstones. To her it was collecting memories, which resulted in the first unique Natalie Dissel collection.
Natalie’s fundamental inspiration is nature, its colours and textures are the key elements of her designs. Combining these eccentric natural materials is her specialty.
In 2008 she fell in love with the “Island of the Gods” Bali, while working with the local artisans. “Natalie Dissel Jewellery” is a socially conscious company, following a “Trade not Aid” ethos. She pioneered working with Ethical Recycled gold and started working with Fairtrade Gold from Borneo, supporting independent female gold miners.
Natalie is renowned for her ‘One of a kind’ statement pieces, that makes a feature of materials as diverse as rare Liddicoatite Tourmaline, Demantoid and uncut gemstones. She works these unexpected elements together with sustainable gold and diamonds to create truly unique designs.
